Happy Spring

Happy Spring Everyone!

Y’all so much has happened since our last post, It’s hard to imagine that it was almost 4 months ago since our Christmas post. We have been busy bees with all the new projects, sprucing up the garden for spring, and getting ready to celebrate Lady’s birthday and our second anniversary since we chose Laurel, MS as our forever home. May 1st marked our second year since our move from Jersey City, NJ to Laurel, MS. We are thrilled to report that we have no regrets and only excitement about what the future holds for us.

A Rose from the garden

Spring is our favorite season of the year, of course after Christmas. Spring is a time when the world awakens from its winter slumber and bursts into life. Flowers bloom, trees bud and the air is filled with the sweet scent of fresh growth. Spring inspires us to take action, to start even more new projects, and to breathe life into our garden. With the warmer weather and longer days, it's the perfect time to get outside and start planting. We believe gardening is a great way to connect with nature and to create something beautiful. We are obsessed with the creation of our own oasis of greenery and color. We have already planted our garden, and a lot of pollinator-friendly flowers and roses,  we can’t wait for our bountiful harvest. We hope to inspire y’all to grow something new this season.

Clematis

Last year, we had a fantastic harvest, an abundance of tomatoes, cucumber, garlic onions, and other vegetables and we learned how to can food we still have some preserved tomatoes from last year. Not bad, for two wanna-be gardeners. It’s an exciting and accelerating experience harvesting what we grow, it definitely reduced our trips to the grocery store quite a bit. We are still on track only to eat what we grow and avoid any trips to the stores. We are not there yet but we are working towards that goal.

We had the honor to be part of and attend the Hometown 100 episodes cocktail party with all of the other families that chose to call Laurel their home. It was an amazing opportunity to meet so many other families that took the same leap of faith to start over in this wonderful town where we feel part of the community and we have been welcomed and embraced.

This week we had the great pleasure of meeting the Walkers and getting to know them a little. The Walker’s grandparents were the original owners of our beautiful home. It was great to hear their stories of when they were children and used to play in the yard and home and all of their fond memories. It was also fun to show them all of the changes that we have made. We feel honored to be the stewards of this beautiful place we now call home and hope to continue its legacy for future generations.

Happy planting y’all!
