This week marks three years of our journey in this small Mississippi town. We find ourselves reflecting on the profound impact it has had on our lives. Moving from the hustle and bustle of a big city to the tranquility of rural America was a leap of faith, but one that has been richly rewarding.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by neighbors who quickly became friends and friends who soon felt like family. Whether it's a spontaneous friend gathering on a balmy summer evening or a heartfelt exchange of stories over a cup of mint tea on the porch, the sense of camaraderie and connection in our small town is nothing short of heartwarming.

One of the most striking aspects of life in Laurel is the sense of community that permeates every aspect of daily life. From the friendly greetings exchanged on morning walks to the genuine conversations with neighbors at the local stores, there's a warmth and authenticity to the connections forged in small towns that simply can't be replicated in a sprawling metropolis.

In a small town like ours, everyone knows everyone else, and that familiarity breeds a sense of trust and solidarity. When a neighbor is in need, whether it's help with a home repair or a shoulder to lean on during tough times, the community rallies together without hesitation. It's this spirit of cooperation and support that truly defines the essence of small-town living.

One of our biggest accomplishments of the past 3-years, has to be the backyard, as it has become a sanctuary of sorts place where we retreat to reconnect with nature, savor the simple pleasure of homegrown produce, and bask in the beauty of it all. Each moment spent tending to our garden fills us with a sense of pride and gratitude. But perhaps, the most rewarding aspect of our backyard oasis is the way it has brought us together. Whether it’s hosting a garden-to-table dinner party for family and friends or inviting a neighbor and dog over for a play date with Lady, our garden has become the focal point for shared experiences and meaningful connections.

 As we mark this milestone in our journey, We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible individuals who have enriched our lives in countless ways. To our friends and neighbors, thank you for your unwavering support, your infectious laughter, and boundless generosity. To our beloved family, near and far, thank you for being our rock and our guiding light through every twist and turn. And to the guests of Gingerbird Art Suite who have chosen to share in our little slice of paradise, thank you for bringing your unique stories and perspectives into our lives, and enriching our community in ways we could never have imagined.

As we look ahead to the years to come, we’re filled with hope and excitement for the memories we have yet to create, the friendships we have yet to forge, and the endless possibilities that await us in this cherished corner of the world we proudly call home.
